• Two episodes had fathers making a bet that their children could make the football team: ``Revenge'' (#101) and ``Football Fever'' (#136). The infamous Wally Butterman is mentioned in both episodes.
• The episodes ``Revenge'' (#101) and ``New Addition'' (#108) both end with Clarissa and Sam in her room watching a videotape of Ferguson.
• The old ``too much mail'' gag (complete with sped-up action) is used in ``Urge to Drive'' (#104) [christmas cards] and ``Dear Clarissa'' (#162) [letters for advice column].
• The episodes ``Crush'' (#114) and ``She Drives Me Crazy'' (#115) end somewhat similarly, the former with Clarissa listing a bunch of sports and the latter with Clarissa and Ferguson exchanging insults.
• Two episodes had a ``Parental Memory Zone'' sequence, in which Marshall reminisces about past glories while Clarissa does a Rod Serling style voice-over: ``President Ferguson'' (#117) and ``Football Fever'' (#137).
• ``Twin Clarissa's'' appear in the openings of ``Marshall's Parents Visit'' (#138) and ``The Great Debate'' (#119).
• Four episodes start out with Clarissa talking to us in the bathroom mirror: ``Revenge'' (#101), ``Brain Drain'' (#109), ``Parents Who Say No'' (#111), and ``Misguidance Counselor'' (#123).
• In the opening of ``Ferguson Explains It All'' (#161), Ferguson complains about his name and offers alternatives, and also complains about Clarissa. This parallels Clarissa's opening remarks in ``Revenge'' (#101).
  Ferguson also has a ``no Clarissa'' sign (a picture of Clarissa with a line through it) on his door, just as Clarissa has a ``no Ferguson'' sign on hers.
